Malabar Hosanna ( Jamboree Tuxedo X Malabar Anastasia )
This sweet girl had a very rough start.
After coming down with a severe case of diarrhea at 1 1/2 days old, she spent
a week at Iowa State University's Veterinary College infused with fluids
and antibiotics. After numerous blood panels, cultures, and other tests eliminated
all the usual suspects, they sent her home with more antibiotics. Several
days later she had a relapse. After nearly a week of treating her with antibiotics,
anti-diarrhea gel, scour medicine, probiotics, yogurt, and milking her mama
and hand-feeding her since she had become too weak to eat on her own, we
felt we were only prolonging her agony and stopped treating her. But the
little girl had much more heart than we gave her credit for, and refused
to give up on life. Two days later she was back eating on her own and has
grown steadily stronger ever since. Her name became Hosanna to reflect the
credit for her survival to the Lord, who brought her through after we gave
up on her. After all this, Hosanna is the most people-oriented baby we have
ever had. She sees humans and comes trotting up for attention--LOVES those
neck rubs and scritches! She has her daddy's pretty face, great shoulder,
and height, and a wonderful athletic trot from both her parents. Her pedigree
features 39 crosses to black in the first 5 generations with
73.4375% CMK breeding, 26.171875% Babson, and 0.390625% US Remount Polish
(a single line to Witez II way back in her
pedigree). She is 100% American Foundation breeding (99.609375% Early American
Foundation breeding) and straight Malabar. Her bloodlines include Fadl,
Roda, Hallany Mistanny, Gayronek, Raffles,
Fa-Serr, Prince
Ebony, Zarife, Skowronek, Stambul,
and Ronek. Hosanna has a Rodania (Blunt) damline,
so her strain is Kuhaylah Rudaniyah (Kuhaylah 'Ajuz of Ibn Rudan). She will
be retained for the Malabar Preservation program as a Prince
Ebony foundation mare, being 40.625% Prince
Ebony.
